Cabrinha Co2 2005 line problem

Postby jenses86 » Wed Mar 18, 2009 10:52 pm

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows what the standard line length is for front and back lines on the 2005 model Cabrinha Co2? I just bought new lines for it and it seems like the back lines are way longer than the front lines when connected to the control bar, haven't test flown it yet, I'm just wondering if the lines (when bought) are supposed to be all the same length or not.

The kite is a 10m w/Recon 2 system

my buddy still has some CO2s from 2005. he said theres as 1.5m difference between the front and back lines due to the Recon system. i think the front lines being longer and the back shorter. hope that helps

The Recon system did have different line lengths on front vs. back. Can't remember the exact difference, but front lines were shorter for sure. Either you need to purchase Recon specific lines (2005 = Recon Gen 2 and 2004 = Recon Gen 1) or you can get regular, newer lines and have them custom sewn to the correct length difference. Bottom line is that all 4 lines should be dead even when rigged on the bar and sheeted in to full power with the trim strap let out all the way.

Thank you for the answer, I'm pretty new to trimming lines, I'm curious as to what the easiest and safest way to shorten the lines my self?

All kite line should really be sleeved at the ends and preferrably stiched or at least tied off to minimize slipping, line snapping or just wear and tear. Q-line is the exception to this rule since their stuff is almost twice as thick. I think a few companies still sell sleeving kits if you really want to tackle this job. It's not really rocket science, it's just a pain because it takes a while to get the lengths just right and sleeving the line is a little tedious. But just search around online for kiteshops that sell those kits. If you have the time and patience, it's significantly cheaper than buying another lineset (which you might not find since Recon 2 hasn't been made in over 4 years). Good luck!

Before cutting your new 4 lines (a set of lines is always useful) I would look on ebay....should be Recon line sets at good price around there!
