straps vrs boots

Postby jteabird » Fri May 29, 2009 11:13 pm

I am and fairly advanced kiter and using straps now but thinking about switching to boots because I am thinking that it might prevent injury to my knees and ankles.... i.e. it might me better to wipe out with two feet in the bindings vrs one foot coming out and blowing out a knee or ankle.. I have noticed alot of the pros are switching?? is it for this reason ???

I dont understand one bit of this thread... :(

Bindings are another issue because you are "locked" regarding foot position (twist).

But you have a much better fixed stance of course...

If one foot comes out though, you are much worse settled than with straps :(

I tend to disagree, I think the likelihood of having one for come out on bindings is a lot lower than straps, straps its pretty easy and if the board twists slightly, the other is locked in.

On a separate note, I've been on boots for a month now and went back to riding straps yesterday to see what it was like...can't believe how horrible it felt, took me a while to get used to them but I won't be going back any time soon unless the wind is too light to ride boots.

Depends on what boots you have. If you have high end boots and you lace them up tight you will never come out.
