Huge Downwind 245 km

Postby prowind » Sun Nov 02, 2008 3:28 am

downwind :angryfire: in the biggest beach in the world, was 245 kilometers in seven and a half hours straight, from Praia do Cassino to Barra do Chuí - Uruguay. the first kiteboarder to complete all distance, breaking the remain record from Renato Pozolo, windsurfer that mades in nine hours and forty-five minutes in the same year. the wind was 35 knots, north-east, cross-shore and some waves.

Amazing accomplishment!
A few questions:
- Did the kiter stop at all along the way, or ride non stop straight through?
- Is it possible to go for longer distance along this beach?
- Do these records get recognized/ recorded by Guiness Book of World Records?

I have not been able to locate any official kiting records on their website is the reason I ask these questions.
Since kitesurfers are breaking all the records in speed and distance, those attempting these records should take the steps necessary to make them "official" with Guiness.
Does anyone have any additional information on this, or other, kiting records?
Thanks

he mades 3 stops from about 10 to 15 min each to drink water and eat something. the top distance from this beach is 220 km straight, on the gps was 245,7 km. i had send all footage, websites, track logs and witness names to Guiness but they didn´t answer, it´s a shame.

wind regards :angryfire:

Wow, that's a very impressive accomplishment....and definitely the most boring kiteboarding video I've ever seen. :)

how many times did you trip up? I did 90km and thought there is no way i will trip up but ended up on my face about 3 times - once i nearly faceplanted into a stingray!
