Tips on Cayo Guillermo or Cayo Coco-Cuba

Postby mainkmain » Sat Dec 12, 2009 8:58 pm

Hi

Does anyone have any tips for Cayo Guillermo or Cayo Coco, ie wind direction, strength, flat or wave spots etc.

I'm planning a trip with the wife in Feb and can't decide between the 2.

Cheers :jump:

Cayo Guillermo. SE doesn't work at Cayo Coco. At CG all usual directions work NE, E, SE and you can go to beautiful Playa Pillar for NW 10min by taxi from what I remember.

No hotels at Playa Pillar. At the end of Cayo Guillermo. No waves at Cayo Guillermo but lots of flat water especially at low tide. There is a reef about 2k out. Never stayed at Cayo Coco....

Careful at pillar, last year I saw 3 sharks. was the first time, kind of creepy, lots of hoo ha at the beach. Very dark ones seemed like 6-9 feet. close to the shore (I just came in 5 min ago) didn't stay long...
