Kiteboarder is the better one to check out, there is a section for regeonal input. The UK may be small place but theres an endless supply of places to kite.

Unfortunately for my sins Bradford was my stomping ground as a kid up until the age of 33.
Your located Ideally between the two coasts of the UK east/west. both within 1.5 hours drive.
As for Kiteboarding in the area I'd say it's a bit sketchy. I lived near a local windfarm on the moors above Bradford with freshwater dams and lakes. Mountain biking was the thing there for me. I contacted a guy in Shipley a few years ago who sold kitesurf equipment (Robin Hood Watersports) so there must some spots to go to.

Redcar

also happens to have 3 lagoons which means you can kite in any wind direction.
