no here you go again. you seem to have a vendetta against boots. sorry they're not gay enough to compete with your boardoffs
plus no ones saying boardoffs are bad (well some people think they are gay) they're just not the future of the sport. i think you're a little upset that you're pointed toe ballerina style isn't going mainstream.
you know there are performance benefits to boots, above and beyond anti-gay properties. they give you more board control, let you go into tricks faster, land hotter, and add weight (and therefore momentum) to your tricks.
to ride in bindings takes more skill than in foot straps. so naturally, hadlow (the most skilled) has taken on boots, and i'm sure consequently, other highly skilled kiters (youri for instance) will follow suit.
its a matter of progression - these pros can whoop your ass toby after a week of boardoff training. i'm sure you'd be hard pressed to put on some bindings and even stand a chance. the top guys have been landing doubles for 3 years now in competition, so doesn't it make sense to try something harder, without relying on sending the kite and dangling under the bar. you know, actually using the KITE and board together, not just relying on the kite to cushion your landing after a spinning 5 times.
but oh shit, you can't do boardoffs when you're locked onto the board with bindings
another thing, riding boots does not mean someone wants to be wakeboarding. they're using a goddamn kite to pull them, why because they're a kiteboarder, not a wakeboarder. if they wanted to wakeboard then they would, they wouldn't go through the hassle of making it work behind a kite and listening to choads whine on about how "awesome" boardoffs and racing are.
now back on topic, i can't wait to watch this series, becaue youri is a fantastic rider, and i think it would be gnarly if he slapped some boots on his board. oh and i also think boardoffs are the gayest of gay.
