have looked up the archives and saw some useful info on spots etc.
was in st. maxime last august
was in juan le pan in Aug 2005 and the wind was light to non existent. 2 intense summer heat waves did not help the mistral on those trips.
i am going to st. maxime for a few days and normandy for one day again next week and was wondering if it was worth bringing gear. if so what size kites?

I advise you to bring your full quiver. 14 to 7 sqm

you can easily get strong winds in south part of france (also called mistral and tramontane)
but in normandy , you can either get thermal wind 15 knt (if the local wind comes from North east) or get good wind if bad weather is comming (south west)

I am in St. Tropez for a week now. There is wind forecasted for tomorrow/Saturday/Sunday from West/North West 18-25 knots), so it will be the short trip to Hyeres. Windfinder forecasts some W/NW towards end of next week also but you never know. There were some 12 knots Easterly forecasted for today but it is not happening.
From my understanding almost all beaches around here are banned for kitesurfing during summer with the exception of St. Aygulf (close to St. Raphael and good on easterly winds) and Hyeres/Almanarre (for Mistral, W/NW).

im heading off to Le Havre, staying at the Houlgate campsite on 2 August for a week.
Are there any restrictions in the area?
Also, do i take my entire quiver too?
Have sup too, is it worth taking that too?

Just wanted to add, it is allowed to kite in Cannes during the summer. The spot is right in front of the palm beach hotel. Launch area is a helipad, so advanced riders only.
The wind is very fickle though, blows nicely just 2~5 times in the summer months and almost all directions are kiteable. Lots of people, lots of windsurfers and boats.
Better stay S.West towards St.Raphael, St.tropez are around Montpellier.
