Looking for a bar with alot of throw..whats out there?

Postby LanBro » Mon Sep 27, 2010 3:14 pm

I am looking for a bar with alot of throw. I would rather sheet out alot on the bar first before pulling the de-power strap. Any suggestions?

Looks like the Naish bar 2009 and 2010 seem to have alot of throw...any others?

Thanks

Ocean Rodeo Bar. As much throw as you want just set your stopper where you want it. Also discounted to $315 right now so that helps.

You can check out the details on the bar here.

Ye4s also the Naish Bar09/10 has the same amount of throw.

Would you consider just making your own modifications to the bar you have?

You could buy some spectra power line and make the "throw" as long as you like...just add the same amount of "extra length" to the rear line pig-tails.

If you don't completely understand what I am suggesting, then DON'T DO ANY MODIFICATION!....BECAUSE IF you add extra length to the power line, without making any adjustment to the total rear line length, you may not be able to adequately depower the kite.

In that you want a longer "throw" on your bar, I am assuming that you have very long arms, or have done away with the chicken loop, and use a seat harness.... otherwise, you would risk having to ride in the "toilet" stance.

Naish SLE bar has tons of throw, maybe the most. Why do want so much throw? That's one of the things I did like about the Naish(2008 Cult) is the long throw. On my new kites, I get the same depower, with little throw(I'm assuming because the bridal is more compact on my new kites).

I'd like a bar with extra throw becuase I ususally ride my kites slighlty over sheeted and prefer the instant power that is provided by pulling in on the bar...Having said that, if the throw is short and its gusty..you can be riding pretty powered and have to de-power via the strap, which I don't want to do unless absolutely necessary. I'd rather sheet out to de-power.

I have ridden the '08 Cabs and like the stopper ball idea...It basically gets you to the same place but once you push past the stopper ball...(essentially gives you longer throw if you need it) but you have to reach up to lock it back in place to get some tension back in the kite..

ocean rodeo bar will be ok. You can adjust it as much as you want. And the amount is so large that you wont be able to stretch your hands
