North Jamie or Select

Postby Michelks » Wed Nov 23, 2011 6:02 pm

I´m looking for a new board, and I´m in doubt about Jamie or Select, both boards seem to be similar in shape , size and range of use.
Select lighter than jamie. What other advantages can I find in a carbon board?

Hi,

you can´t compare these boards, I rode both, the select floats much more earlier, has more pop, is more agile and is better for craving in waves, too.

hi, i owned select, very good board, smooth /good pop etc. but be warned it is fragile, brother had same board went up the beach to far, caught the fin cracking the board, i sold mine straight after to avoid the same accident. believe me they are very good but not that tuff at all. I now ride the hadlow, best board ever...

Brand new carbon boards like the team series and I suspect the select sell for around $1450 new, however you can find 2011 selects selling for $700 new. That would be my choice if you can find it. All the benefits of carbon with a 50% saving. One of the things I like most about carbon is the weight saving for traveling. Any weight I can save in my gear bag, allows me to bring more of other things like an extra bar or a small kite.

Their gear is overpriced IMHO, their stupid bar is over engineered, I see so many people with problems here in Brasil and have seen numerous people break all 4 lines, how is that?
Now that other companies in 2013 can use the D2 material they will probably lose a big market share. I think that is the only reason you see so many of their kites in 2011,2012 is due to this material and being they had exclusivity. The boards look nice but for 1450 I can get 2 twin tips that are just as good! :angryfire:

I live in São Paulo, SE of Brazil and kite 100 miles from here, I get light wind most of the time, wind over 20 knots, just few days a year or when traveling.
