Hi
Anyone using this camera to make kite movies from the centre strut of the kite?
Just wondering what settings have been working best for you to get the best quality.
Just starting to experiment a bit with this camera so it would be great if i could already get an idea from someone who has already used it.

I have used both the W30 and W60. As previous post says, the camrig site gives loadsa info.
I bought the W60 as it was on offer, and sold W30 to a mate.
After using the W60 a few times, swapped back to W30, so if available, I would recommend the W30.
Although the W60 has a higher MP spec, and higher optical zoom, and wide screen vid, I couldn't get as good pics from it.

I have the W60, but the camrig is not meant for skinny struts...I have had a hard time fixing
it to the kite on the worthwhile days....ie big waves small kite....
Otherwise I like the camera...simple, gives you okay quality pics...I mean don't expect SLR quality...but it'll work fine..
I wish the time interval photos could be set to more pics than 1 per 10 sec.

I use 08 Ozone instinct Lights and no problem fitting the camrig to these. Are there kites out there with thinner struts?
A word of warning tho. I did trash my 5m when it crashed ahter fallling down a wave. The camera ripped the strut from the leading edge

well I don't know how thin the struts on the ozone is, but I cannot fit the rig on my Helix 9..I mean I need to mod it for it to fit...even on the 10.5 the arms are poking into the canopy...
All it needs is a mod, but well you know...

I've tried my W60 twice with Camrig, and been pretty happy with the results - you'll learn a lot about rigging it the first few times you go out I recon...
At the moment I'm playing with the zoom setting - how zoomed in are others? I tried 2.0x and 1.8x but feel they're too much...thinking no zoom???
I'm still waiting for a freestyle day, but have had some very strong wind days :

...I have Cabrinha Nomad's on the way...i fear the Camrig is going to be put away for a while
...unless i can fit two camrigs on to balance it???haha

I only have a W10, and pretty much use it just for pix. I used to do movies, but they're too labor intensive in terms of editing and rotating. I usually zoom in about 1/3 (digital zoom is turned off), and that will give me a little leeway to compensate for the kite's sheeting moving me out of center, then pick the best pix and process them in photoshop.
Also, sometimes I got out with a Timex Ironman Triathlon watch, which i set the timer to beep every 10 deconds, and I synch this to the camera's interval before I launch the kite. Works pretty well.

I have the W30 and I also use the zoom at 1/3.
If you use a high zoom you are often outside the picture.
As far I understand, the W60 has only 30 minutes of film (60 minutes for the W30).
The more and more difficult to find. I had to change my old one (I used it in "deep water") and the water went into and I got one of the latest from a dealer in London.
Important: do not use your camera under water if it is a bit old (one year): the seal can not hold the pressure of 2 meters deep water.
