Hey everyone,
I am new to the sport as well as this forum. I live on the East Coast of the U.S. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction kite wise. I am taking lessons next week and I realize the instructor will give me information about gear but I don't wont to buy gear based solely on his opinion.
I am 6'1" 180 lbs
I would just like to know what size kite to buy and what brand. I want to buy a used kite.
Also any board recommendations would be helpful. Thanks!

welcome!
that's all relative...
first do the course, ask the instructor about the wind strengths...then come back here, tell us your weight you have, which wind speed you expect to ride in.
Then it will be easier for us to guide you to what you need.
If you already have some things in mind, you can ask us for our opinions.
Also check what local dealers have in stock...always helps if your gear is used in the area regarding trimming tips and spare parts...
