Aloha from Maui Hawaii

Postby ericbadgley » Tue Sep 05, 2017 9:25 pm

ALoha,

My name is Eric, I'm currently living on Maui. I'm new to kiting. I'm more of a surfer but the summer swell sucked so bad I picked up kiting. Kite beach isn't necessarily the best beginner spot but since I usually surf bigger waves during the winter swell super shallow reefy breaks I feel comfortable out there. Message me if you are new to the island or visiting i can give recommendation on where to surf or kite.

Mahalo

Eric

I havn't quite got that far yet I'm still just getting the hang of it. Kite beach aka Kanaha gets swell in the winter. My goals is to be hitting Lanes at Hookipa at some point my goal was by this winter but I need more practice. During the summer theres consistant wind everyday. There's also some good spots when the south wind blows. When i say surfer I mean surfing without a kite. My favorite breaks for that is Honoula Bay, Kahului Harbor, DT Flemming & Hookipa and some super secret local spots. I started kiting so i can have something todo when its too blown out to kite and to improve my overall surfing since I will be able to catch more waves.

You got to make it out here weathers always good and super windy during the summer.

Cheers

Yeah, I believe with a kite you can catch so much more waves...let us know how it goes for you, could be interesting for other surfers too!
