Looking to learn to kiteboard from someone who is qualified to teach. Also some advice on gear. I live 5 miles from Lake Mead and saw someone kiteboarding there yesterday. Have always wanted to learn. My girlfriend also wants to learn, if you can teach us let me know. We are willing to travel.

I'm not an instructor but know many who kite in So Nevada. Lake Mohave is the place to be. I will check back often. If interested let me know

Yeah, Mohave. This time of the year basically everyday is perfect down there. Avoid weekends if possible. 6 Mile beach. Head east from Searchlight. There are few kiters that live in BC, too. PM me for contact info for a good instructor that has a boat and can give lessons. You can also just go down there when its blowing and introduce yourself to everyone. Very friendly group.

I am new to this and live close by as well. Some guys in Maui mentioned Lake Mohave but also said watch out for the tree stumps. Is there a Mohave club to get familiar with? I’m looking for a trainer. This is looking like one of the coolest sports ever!

Just back from Mohave. Got skunked today which is unusual as the wind apps are generally accurate. I'm not an instructor and IMO it's a difficult place to learn due to limited beach access. We boat launch. That makes learning much more efficient as no "walk of shame". Ignore the tree stump comment but again access can be a challenge. Six mile is the go to beach. I've kited from there a handful of times. Best with a South wind. If it's blowing there will be kiters there. Water temp btw is 85 degrees now but will get into the 50s over the winter.
