What's the throw distance on a Best bar?

Postby alexeyga » Mon Jun 02, 2008 6:01 am

I just was wondering if I'll be able to use an old 4-lines Gaastra bar i've got laying around with a Waroo 9... However, it only has about 7-8" of throw... I'm a bit skeptical if that would be enough... Can modify it, but I'll have to juggle around with the lines length, which is pretty long at 27m to begin with...

dude that's not enough throw for a waroo.
I use a 07 Waroo Bar. I haven't meassured the throw but i guess it's about 60 cm that would be about 23 inches. Maybe it's a little less but not much.

so easy to change yourself. just make the rope longer, add some pigtaails to the ends of the lines to compensate if you have to.

just curious, why do you have to change the flying line lengths?

All 4 should be equal length sheeted in still, and when you sheet out (23in now) the back lines go really slack, where is the need for line extensions? (never flown bow kite before)

You want ur flying lines to be very close to the same length at optimization of the kite. If u add 20" to the length of the front lines, u need to take 20" out of the front line leaders or add 20" to the back lines so that when the bar is pulled in the lines r the same length. 20" of slack in the back lines would make the kite impossible to steer.

Just like 20 m or bust said, if I extend the depower cord by 20", that means that i'm extending the front lines by the same amount... thus I need to either shorten the front lines or extend the back ones... Besides, these lines are quite long to begin with... I'm not sure anybody uses 27m lines nowadays... My Thrusters came with 20m lines + 4m extensions which I never used so far...

Thanks for the reply guys, but i'm afraid this bar is of no use for me... If i'll add another ~15" to the depower cord, the depower trim will become out of reach... Anybody needs an older, but in like-new condition Gaastra bar? :angryfire:
