To all Gaastra Kiteboarding Department 2009 kites users, effective immediately:
It has come to our attentions that a small group of Gaastra 2009 kites are experiencing problems with the 2009 Quick Release system QR.
Gaastra is therefore replacing ALL 2009 QR’s with new 2010 QR’s, free of charge.
Go to your local dealer(with your receipt!), and order a 2010 QR, you need to return the 2009 QR when pick up the 2010 QR.
The 2010 QR’s are currently being produced, they are expected to arrive in the beginning of August.
In the mean time we ask you to do the following:
- Check if your 2009 QR is working properly
- If so: Make sure you check it before every session
- If not, open the QR and clean it if necessary, upon closing, make sure you do now screw the middle screw too tightly - If it still doesn’t work. Do not use your 2009 QR, wait for it to be replaced!
We are sorry for any inconvenience,
Gaastra Kiteboarding Departement
PS: I'm not a Gaastra dealer or shopowner, im just a promo-rider.

Wrong ... that QR should´nt go into production ever .... I saw and tested the first protos and told the designer which lives here in Tarifa , it will cause problems , nice looking system but much complicated since it had too many moving parts ....

So, no receipt no replacement?
It should make no difference where you bought the product. Gaastra should simply replace the part through any dealer who sells Gaastra products.
Kind of like putting a time limit on a gift certificate. Gaastra have the product paid for- replace the part no questions asked and no hassle.

BS, I've had 4gaastra bars, 2which i still use, no problems whatso-ever. It doesnt have 'too many moving parts' there's actually just 2 moving parts...I seriously doubt if you actually looked at it, ever. maybe you should run to dock11, tell Urs that Maurice sent you, and ask him to show you the inside of 2009 QR.
You can offcourse go to any dealer without the receipt, but some stores will bitch about it.
