rrd type 9

Postby grappa » Mon Dec 07, 2009 7:48 pm

just brought an rrd type 9 7m . just wondering what difference the zip makes ? i remember the type 6 zipping it up made it more grunty ,with maybe a bit more bottom end? also pulled the front lines back to the bar by 2 knots, (nearest knot to the bar) and kept the back lines on the center knot (under the float on the bar) this seemed to work for the ht2 ?
any other tips before i put it up , probably in gusty high winds would be appreciated !

Haven't flown one of these in a little while. FAAAST kites.
I feel like the type 9 liked shorter front lines than back lines, by about a pigtail length. This was on the 9 meter. I HIGHLY suggest doing a tuning check with a friend before you fly it for real, as you could be setting the kite up to backstall.
The zipper does exactly what you described, I always left mine shut. One of the other guys liked it open for wave riding, he said it pivoted at the edge of the window better.
Enjoy,
Jeff

cheers for that jeff . gave it a quick fly in light winds after i'd shortened the front lines , never that easy to tell when its not in its wind range though , drifting back in the lulls etc.

Word. If it stays up there, I'd go ahead and take it out and figure out the rest.
Cheers.

5th line ? didn't know they had a fifth line . flag out on the front lines is how this ones set up. as long as its reasonably stable the speed should be interesting !

I think flying weasel was talking about the type 8, a c kite. The Type 9 doesn't have a 5th line.
