Since the guys at the airport always try to scam the tourists...how much is the visa if you but it at the airport?
And how much costs the transfer for two people from the Hurghada airport to El Gouna or Soma Bay ?
Thanks
Toby

Hi Toby!
Cost of visa at this moment 15 euro or $18.
Transport form Airport to el gouna should cost not more than 50 Egyptians pounds / $10.
Soma bay - max 75P / $15.
thats the good price for my friend!

Hey, just returned from El Gouna few days ago.
Visa ~ 15 $, taxi from airport to El Gouna ~ 10 $. In El Gouna You should take a tuk tuk taxi (3 wheel taxi), it cost everywhere in El Gouna 1 $ for One person or 5 Egyptian pounds.
If You want to go from El Gouna to Hurgada, there is a bus for 5 Egyptian pounds (1 $) for a person from a El Gouna bus station.
Usually, we are a group of 4 - 8 people, so we take a minibus from airport and for 10 $ with all the equipmnet go to Elgouna.
If more answers needed, just ask.
Have a good day

Hi Toby,
wow this guys are really good in dealing with the taxi drivers . Respect.
For the Visa just go to the Bank Counters not to the Tourleaders. The Bank
takes the regular price for the Visa.
The Kiteschools organize Transfers as well. Which Center do you plan to visit?
sunny greetings
Tanja

Yeah definately head straight for the bureau booth once off the bus and into the terminal. You can get visa here for £11.00 Sterling and avoid the queue. If you allow the authorities to direct you along with all of the other tourists they'll sting you for £13.00. I know wages are low and people are poor over there but I don't like it when they take the piss.
Not familiar with taxi or bus prices from airport to resorts mentioned as on our trip we were on a bus transfer. That said watch out for the smartly dressed man in the terminal who can speak good English and offers you a taxi regardless of the size of your baggage. If you're not careful you'll end up with what looks like a 'death trap' vehicle driven by Egypts equivalent of a tatooed 'F' wit as opposed to a decent sized one for your party and luggage. In other words they'll try it on so be warned.
El Gouna is worlds apart from other towns. It's purpose built for tourist industry and so we are well catered for. You can buy a weekly ticket 20 Egyptian pounds from town to Mangroovy Beach. They run every hour or so. A Tuk Tuk is 10 Egyptian pounds if you take the yellow coloured ones or 8 EP if you take the colourful themed ones. The Scooby Doo one is pretty fast
Have a good trip!

ok, just arrived:
Visa 12.50 Euro at bank counter
Transfer Airport to Soma Bay: 100 pounds.
But it is a big hassle, and the taxi drivers don't make friends...very annoying!
Make sure to have a fixed price before you get into the car...and tel them the price includes all...also the airport ticket...they will try everything!
Good luck!
Wind: no wind for last 3 days...but should come back today (Tuesday).
Let's see!

Hey,
if I am correct, soma bay is the same as safaga (same spot). So that spot is not very good for kiters, it is better for windsurfers. The bottom of the sea is realy messy, old ruins of a bridge, sharp metal sticks and etc.. My friends returned from safaga two month ago, and their feets were looking terrible (a lot of cuts, pain, etc). By our opinion, best place to kitesurf in region of Hurgada is El Gouna, especially for novices.
Ussualy, in safaga, the wind blows ofshore.
If You need further information, please, let me know, and I will do my best to answer.
