Mystic Harness Peeling

There is a problem with the '08 and '09 waist harness exterior covering peeling off. It is happening after only a few hours use and looks like peeling skin. I don't know if it's from salt water or UV. After talking to other kiters, it seems to be all models- Warrior, Firestarter, Lenten. It's ugly with the underlayer exposed. The US importer has been notified. He says he is aware of the situation and it will be corrected in the future. No exchange or compensation has been offered. '08 and '09 models continue to be sold.

Yo Westwind I had it happen to an 08 and I sold it due to that issue! But I do like Mystic harnesses the best out of all th harnesses so I replaced it with an 09 I hope it does not happen to that one its a Len10 also.

Westwind if you have a picture can you add it to the post if you don't I few I am adding.

I would like to point out is that I love the Harness and would love to keep buying then but I do hope this issue is worked out!

I have a 2008 firestarter and after 6-7 months of use it started to peel of. I slowly worked it out and took it all out. The handle pass leash is cracked in 5-6 places and the quick release on the back of the harness they are both somehow cut.

PS. I had an incident in the past. After an unhooked move i decided to let go of the bar, the mystic leash is very long, so until the leash got tension, the bar had a lot of travel and one of the back lines went below the bar. Guess what? The kite started kitelooping high in the air, since i was unhooked i was on my back going towards the beach (on shore winds with a bit of side). I was trying to reach the release at the back but i couldn't work my fingers in it. I was also in quite a lot of panic and before i knew it, after the kite did 7-9 kiteloops i hit the first small rocks at the beach, then another kiteloop and the kite somehow hit the ground, i turned and took the leash of the bar.

So after this incident the handle pass leash was a bit F****ED

Then i had an idea. I took a piece of strong rope, 2 clips and have one installed on one of the release handles at the back, when i put the harness on i put the other clip on the other side. So i have the release behind the speader bar in case anything happpens again i can release from the front as well.

Otherwise the harness is very good, comfortable as hell and if it hadn't had so much things dangling it would had been perfect

I've had my 08 harness for well over a year with allot of pampering my harness isn't that bad, i don't dry it in the sun nor rest it in the sand , but i do have some peeling
if you look at the second pic there are dozens of little tiny bubbles forming along the top. A buddy of mine his harness is peeling horribly too. Maybe the harness needs sun tan lotion too

I have a windsurfing hawaii harness that is 7 or 8 years old and no problem.
Before that I had a Dakine that lasted 10+ years!

I have used my Mystic Warrior 2 harness about 5 times and harness looks like 5 years old harness!

Have anyone same problem?

If these were $80 harnesses well who cares really...but at over 300 comon. Oh well the same is true for so many products these days. Make cheap and flimsy sell expensive, making durable gear doesn't fit modern day business models.
