okay... I ride surfboards in waves and surf plenty often. But I have to drive a couple hours to do so (or fly, which I do often).
BUT the spot 2 seconds from where I live is 18-25kts every day in the summer with butter-flat water (with small wind chop on the outside).
In the past this has always meant summertime = freestyle during the week and waves on the weekend & on trips. Fine. but my knees are getting pretty done in with TT freestyle and I'm more interested in surfing with kites anyways.
So my question is then what can I do in the flat water to make the most of it help my skills when I get to waves? Rule: It can't be boring.
I was thinking of getting a super-strong built surfboard with straps to start doing all my freestyle tricks & stuff on. This will help when/if I want to do more technical aerials of the lip, etc... I've got a long way to go before with my basics of kite-surfing before that'll happen, but who knows.
Hahahaha.... L3's on a surfboard... I almost want to do it because it's so goofy.
The other option is ride around strapless. I do this fairly often too, but I'm getting a bit bored of it in flat water and I'm looking for skills to work on here that will apply to waves.
Any ideas? I'm looking for some inspiration here people.

How about learning to jibe going both ways strapless, Heelside to toe and toeside to heel. This will help your
wave riding. You need to be able to switch stance quickly if you want to redirect your kite and ride down waves. unless of course your riding some perfect point break with sideoff winds!
