Cabrinha Sync compatibility

Postby frenzyflyer » Tue Mar 17, 2009 7:42 pm

Hello,
I would be interested in buying Cabrinha Sync bindings. I have an old North Jaime Pro 2005 board.
I checked and the bolt holes are about 6 and an eighth inch (15.5cm) apart. Will they fit?

Thank you

Davide

I posted this in another thread about the Sync's but some may find this helpful so I'll post it again here. I really like the way the Sync's feel. :

I put a pair of Sync's on my '08 Skywalker Dimitri Pro Comp. I had to make a very small modification to the plate, but they work great. Basically, I just notched out the ends of each of the plastic channels using a drill. Took about 2 minutes. Here's a simple illustration:

Thanks, I had actually read that post. Now, how wide apart are the holes on that board? And how wide apart are the holes on the syncs?

Thanks

Davide

The syncs have a 6" spread between the channels. The skywalker boards (2008) had 4 holes for each strap (2 on either side of the foot bed). Like this " : foot : " For my left foot setup, I have the syncs screwed in using the lower left hole and upper right. This gives me a nice duck stance. The the opposite on the right foot.

Make sense?

Hi Fassn8...
I have a cabrinha caliber with syncs....you mentioned about the stance angle...but did you set the stance at the maximum angle??/
I have not on mine but it looks like my feet like to be more angled in the straps...
could you be more specific?? :?:

Cheers

Frenzyflyer,
I have seen the Cabrinha Syncs on a 2008 North board. Strange enough, Casper said they wont fit on a 2009 North. I am wondering if North are changing their hole spacing? I would recommend that you look into this further as once the Syncs are installed, you will feel like you bought a new board!

Hi Vickite,
If you're using a cabrinha board then you're going to have more stance options. I set mine up so that my feet are pretty "ducked" out. So a pretty wide angle. I find this to be the most comfortable position as it opens your hips up slightly. I'd try adjusting your angle and see what you like. Here's a photo of my setup.

BTW - the bungee is something I added to deal with the extra laces. You can just tuck the string under either side. I like to have these very loose on the beach and then crank them down while out on the water. I don't want to set them in one position/tightness so I haven't tied a knot in the strings like they mention in the Carbinha video.
