kite whistle

Postby rodeoclown » Sat Jun 06, 2009 5:42 am

Boats communicate with sound (and light)
I have a vision of these kites that we fly being able to make noise on command.
(yes,I'm buzzed and posting)
Is this possible? or am I just a loser high on mind altering substances...lost in a fantasy world.
Does anyone else feel this?

Hey,

Lots of Kiteforum posters have proved that you can be buzzed, high on mind altering substances, and lost in a fantasy world, and still have a good idea.

I proved that, myself, just the other day, when a combination of neglect in taking my Thorazine and an excess volume of coffee, caused me to post:

"What we have here is a failure to communicate"

...............................................................................Cool Hand Luke

"Beep" = "Get out of my way"
"Beep, Beep" = "Get the F@#K out of my way"
"Beep, Beep,Beep" = "God D@#M it, get the F@#k out of my way...I am going to 'bust a move'!"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today, however, being in a much sounder state of mind, I would offer, what is probably a much better solution to the "failure to communicate" problem , and closer to the idea you have hit on:

That is....

A small air horn mounted on each wing-tip, which would be activated, by a strong pull on the rear lines, the action of which would open the horn valve and let the air flow through it producing a "honk".

A continuous long "honk" would alert fellow kiters that your kite is looping and that someone should call "911". Other offerings from the horns could indicate such intents as:

(1) "Com'in Through"
(2) "Watch me Mommy!"
(3) "Git outta my way!"
(4) "Has anybody seen my board?"
(5) "Watch This"
(6) "Watch This"
(7) "Watch This"

....my head hurts this morning, and I am soooo embarrassed!
Kitezilla, you crack me up dude!
The thought of my kite honking everytime I turn hard is funny as heck! :thumb:

What would I communicate?
Well coming up behind a kiter I like to belt out a yodel so he knows I'm there when he goes to gybe.
I do the same when I need to get people on the beach aware that I'm about to land.
And of course the "emergency" thing, which could be anything...including getting that girls attention Toby.
"Help, I need to worship you baby!" :naughty:

Visual signals have advantages and are a tradition at sea.
Most kiters could fly several of these, most of the time....

rodeoclown,

You know we really don't yodel enough.........or play the accordion enough either. If you think about it, a kite is really just a big accordion. Now, take your "ram-air" type-a-kite...that could be turned into a harmonica so darn easy! Kiteboarding has a great appeal for the "aging crowd", and so, the sooner we welcome Lawrence Welk , and his fan club to our midst, the "happier" we all are gonna-be. That's a-one and-a-two.....

Speaking of accordions....What's the difference between cutting into an onion and cutting into an accordion?

Answer: No one cries when you cut into an accordion....

I used to know those flag signals, but I forgot....which one is it that signals: "I'm coming in fast,to the Rear Admiral"...that would be a good one to fly, when you just can't stop in time.

Hey,

Maybe some whistles on the wing tips.

"Finally, as if the sight and sound of an enemy bomber diving right at you is not frightening enough, Adolf Hitler ordered to equip the Stuka with a screaming siren that made the sound of its dive far more frightening, giving it a greatly enhanced psychological effect which terrorized enemy civilians and soldiers alike, including some anti-aircraft gunners who could fire at it and did not. Yes, his evil mind did that...and yet, he overlooked a weapon, suggested by his psychic, so monsterous and frightening, that it just might have worked to turn back the Allied troops from their invasion of Normandy ...........yes,.... thousands of newbee kiteboarding Stormtroopers, on Omaha and Utah Beach, armed with "C" kites, all trying to learn to kite....without instructors!
