KB4girls News:

KB4girls Global event in Alameda/San Francisco area to raise funds for Girls Inc.

Second annual Alameda event will bring together female kiters from California

Maui/HI: Reaching out to girls and women in the bigger San Francisco area and all of California, the third KB4girls GLOBAL event of the 2012 season will take place in Alameda, just east of San Francisco, on April 28th and 29th.

After an incredibly successful event in 2011, the KB4girls foundation returns to Boardsports School & Shop in Alameda at Crown Beach for a full weekend of coaching, socializing and fun. The goal for the event is threefold: further skills and confidence for advanced women kiteboarders, teach some first time women just starting out how to kiteboard and overcome fear, and to help raise funds for a local charity benefiting young girls.

The KB4girls event in Alameda will once again be raising funds for the Girls Inc. of the Island City (Alameda). Girls Inc.'s charter is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold through innovative programs, activities, and advocacy. In 2011 KB4girls participants managed to raise a total of $7,000 and the goal for 2012 will be to raise over $10,000 for Girls Inc.

The event promises to be a lot of fun, and a very special and memorable experience for all participants. KB4girls founder and 9x Kiteboarding World Champion Kristin Boese will by flying in from Maui to lead this year's event and team up with San Francisco Bay Area local pro rider and Kitopia School owner Sandy Parker, and Boardsports Co-Owners Jane Cormier & Rebecca Geffert. Both Kitopia and Boardsports are excited to join Kristin's global efforts of promoting kiteboarding events for women.

"There is nothing more empowering than organizing and gathering a group of women to not only get out and enjoy an exhilarating sport such as kitesurfing, but to also raise money for a great local charity. Having the 9x world champion kitesurfer Kristin Boese come to town to lead and inspire women to bring their riding skills to new heights makes it doubly spectacular," said Jane Cormier, Boardsports Co-Owner.

April is a great time in the Bay Area for consistently strong spring winds, with daily averages of 15-25knts. On top of the kite activities of the weekend, local hosts Boardsports and Kitopia will keep everyone entertained with video screenings, BBQ's and Stand Up Paddle recreational races.

Registrations for the event are open at http://www.kb4girls.org/calendar/2012-s ... cisco.html. The last few open spots will fill up quickly, so everyone is encouraged to sign up soon.

Just in time for the new season the Boardsports and Kitopia girls have also joined the KB4girls foundation's chapter program, bringing female kiters in the Bay Area the sport and social activities on a more regular basis throughout the season. The KB4girls foundation is supported by Best Kiteboarding, DaKine, Vitamizzer, Baby-G, Elemental Herbs and Tramontana Grafixx.

June 15 to 17, 2012 El Gouna, Egypt
