Kitesurfing in France and Portugal

Postby kitesurfwacom » Mon Jul 16, 2012 10:14 am

i will be in france and portugal in SEPTEMBER and am wondering if im a little late for the season? If I am not what kite sizes and locations do you recommend.
Will I need a wetsuit thicker than a 3*2?
And is there any reliable websites I can use to gatther information?
I love waves but dont mind flat water either!
Any guidance would be much appreciated
Thanks! Jono Perth WA- www.kitesurfwa.com

I'm from north east from Spain. Normally I travel to France to practice kite in Leucate. In this area there is a strong wind and gusty (N,NW). There are lot of spots closer. You have Lagoons (Flat Water) & Open Sea. Leucate is where PKRA has his event.

More info: Leucate Tourism Web -> http://uk.tourisme-leucate.fr/home/slid ... spots.aspx

Sorry for my english! Hope I have helped you! Have fun! :D

September is a bit late for Portugal, but it's still in season. That means you have probably a 60% chance of wind in places like Guincho or Viana do Castelo. If you are into surfing, then you'll be ok because, if there's no wind, at least there is allways some swell to play around.

If, by France you mean Côte Basque/Landes (Biarritz, Hossegor, Lacanau,...) then it's really late in the season for wind, but also very nice for surfing. In the Mediterranean coast it's a bit of hit or miss, as the best season for the N/NW winds that Alfarosi talks about is the northern hemisphere winter.
