Every day, 73 Victorians are diagnosed with cancer.

In 2012 Cesar Aldea lost his mother after a difficult battle with an aggressive
cancer. In her memory and in support of families who have lost loved ones to
cancer and those who are currently fighting this disease, he is committed to raise
fund and awareness by organizing one of the most spectacular kiteboarding
challenges.

“Being an obsessed and experienced kitesurfer I wanted to use my passion to
raise money to contribute to cancer research and to hopefully, one day, make this
disease disappear” Cesar said. “This time our goal is AU$60,000 that will help
fight melanoma a type of cancer that we, as kite boarders must be educated
about”.

We started with a small group of 25 riders in 2013, 50 in 2014, now for ATB 2015
the challenge is bigger than ever. A group of 100 experienced kiteboarders will
cross Port Phillip Bay from Rosebud to Port Melbourne in February 2015 (7th, 8th,
14th or 15th) looking to write the next chapter in kiteboarding history becoming
the largest and longest kiteboarding challenge in the world.

The starting point will be Rosebud Beach where the kitesurfers will ride downwind
South-Westerly towards Frankston Beach before heading South to Port Melbourne
Beach. This part of the bay presents great difficulties such as varying swells,
currents and stronger winds. From Frankston the kitesurfers will continue
alongside the shore (<2km) allowing people to watch the group from the beach.
This challenge has never been been done in such a big group.

It will be 75 kilometers of pure adrenaline!!

You can be part of this unique challenge by joining as a rider and/or donating at
http://acrossthebay.com.au

Every dollar raised will help to fund important research, prevention programs and
support services.

For interviews and photos please contact Cesar Aldea.

Great idea! We should organize more charity events that involve a good kiteboarding challenge. Good luck to the riders! Life is beautiful when you do things for others and don't wait for governments to solve all problems. Make a donation!
