North Rebel 09

Postby aahi » Sun Jun 15, 2008 9:59 pm

So basically this thread will be a continuation of this one:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2346890

I've put together a few picts from the nationals photo threads:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2349016 and viewtopic.php?t=2349102&p=531514

and would like to thank Clew In, _josha, Loscocco, and experienced1 for all the great spy pics. make sure to stop by the threads, there are many more pictures of the new rebel in there. (as well as the new wainman hawaii stuff)

From the picts we have an indication on the sizing this year. I saw a least these sizes: 6m, 8m, 10m, and 12m all sporting the 4 strut configuration. looks like no 7m or 9m this year... they're flying on 5th lines like Foxi said, still have one-pump, load distribution panels and relaunch bungees. still flying on 08 bars. I assume these are still protos so there could still be changes. What i though was interesting is that most of the north team was riding rebels towards the end of the event. which points to good performance seeing as the team did so well. maybe their strategy was rebel in small sizes and rhino in bigger sizes?

anyway, what i really want to know is how they fly? with the four struts, I'm sure the turning is light and snappy... they look pretty delta-ish, so maybe they have some evo handling and linear depower? did they improve the low-end? how do they unhook? it might be too early for reports, but it's that time of year and they should be hitting australia soon...

thks guys... yes, i know i'm obsessed...

Aahi, you're mistaken about the sizes. There will be more than before, not eliminating any though.

wow, talk about making it even more confusing for buying a quiver: 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12? that's a lot of kites for that windrange.

More increments is good in my book. I want my kite sizes close together at the high end but spread out at the low end. Not all of us can afford 2m increments (5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15) all the way up but too wide spacing (4m) not good either.

7, 9, 12, 15 would be the perfect UK quiver (IMHO) to see you through from Winter storms to Summer high pressure, but it is so hard with the sizing on many kites.

I have a little time on an 11, but I was underpowered at the time, unfortunately. (The team guys that have logged in some real water-time on them are VERY happy though.)
