Micro-hook works only with regular winds.
I can never use it in our winds (Leucate), and don't know any mates with good old school level, who can.
Genetrix Hydra is the best kite I know for that. You can drive the kite with one hand and keep a massive hangtime !!!
But very bad to do kiteloops ...

no problem to use a micro loop in gusty winds as well !
You can hook just at liftoff, if a gust hits then, you just go higher and longer...nice!
You need to decide: old school, or kitelooping and unhooking. Cannot really do it all with one kite in the same conditions.

Hi Toby, I just watched (a dozen times) your new flysurfer video- Voltare. Don't take offense, but until seeing this video I'd never heard of you before! Well, you've made a hell of a first impression. Great style, great tricks. I just started landing my first board offs with a flip- it's harder than it looks.
How would you rate the Speed 3 against other kites suitable for old school riding? I have the Speed 2 15m and 19m, and I'm considering upgrading to the Speed 3. They don't have stopper balls, but ..... it didn't seem to hold you back much.
Cheers.

I didn't really try the Speed2, so I cannot comment on that.
I have for the tricks without a rotation a stopper ball, which Flysurfer added for me. But I think their next bar coming out will include a stopper. Without doing a front rotation, by which you get higher as well, I need a stopper or microhook to have enough hangtime to do those tricks...and to make them look nicer due to more hangtime. That's why it is much harder to do, if you don't have one.
A few tool are important to have when going for old school, like big straps and a handle, and a working stopper or microloop.

I have a north rhino 2009 10m for the old school days.
But I'm struggling with the use of the micro loop, it's not so easy in well powered conditions.
