Yeah maybe this is not the topic for it, but I think it might be interesting to post a new item asking how many people have had problems with north lines.

s1buell_wl if you have never filed down the center hole you should do it.

SuperEZ posted last month about how to sand it down.

"I bet your North bar is 2010-2011 or 2012.....in 2013 and 2014 the center hole is servicable plastic
All those older bars had metal center hole
After a while the lower part of the metal hole gets a sharp edge from depower line abrasion / friction
That sharp edge is what chews it up
The 2011 bar on my 12m2 Reb even had a channel grooved in to the metal hole from lines
You can slow down the wear by using a smooth round file and removing sharp edge
Finish off smooth with wet 400 sandpaper then finally with wet 600 sandpaper"

Looking at my kite connections last week I can now see were my anchor lines on the kite will soon brake.

I had the 16m kite out last Saturday in 20-23kns only thing I was thinking hemmmm I wonder what line will brake today. Oh and man I have enough time in these jumps for two board back passes lol!!!

If you inspect your equipment before going out and think something may break and then continue to go out!?

First of all you may need to step down from your high horse and not make so many assumptions. Nowhere did I say that I don’t inspect my gear. I inspect my North gear more than most because of the poor line quality. I replace lines all the time due to “balls” (fibers within the weave breaking) I have a spare bag of north lines just for this purpose. But you cannot catch everything you can only try your best. And when you’re loading up your gear anything is possible.

Have a look at Toby busting his chicken loop, is that because he did not inspect his gear?

My point is I’ve lost confidence in my gear in these wind ranges

I own Cab and Naish gear, currently no North. Does anyone know of a microloop kit for these bars, or a 'generic' microloop kit that can be adapted? I do not like the idea of the microloop connecting to the main harness hook as it is below and requires more movement to unhook, possible not being able to release in time. Donkey-dick will get in the way as well.

Worse yet, if the microloop is in the harness hook, an emergency quick-release will do nothing and the kite will still be hooked in at full power.

Watching the new trailer closely, Toby engages and releases the microloop almost effortlessly, which looks very smooth and best of all, safe.

The North system with the microhook up above the ironheart looks ideal. Emergency release would still work 100%

Maybe I'll just have to plunk down the cash for a North bar...

Hey question for you. When to drilled the bar did you use two size drill bits? Or just one. I need to drill the Ozone bar.

No, I've got rid of that Epic stuff (and I'm happy now with my North gear).

You need two drill bits- a 6mm and a 8mm drill.
You will also need a North bar to get the angle and distance right. That is very important!
