Hmmm letting go of the bar when you feel the kite starting to loop that may help alot, Good Idea Icebird. I will have to change my style of riding the stopper, and go stopperless when rotating.
I never have the chance to see which way the damn thing loops when this happens when doing Forwards otherwise I"d try to correct. I do know when I am hooked in with a small kite and doing wakestyle backrolls kite tends to loop backwards if you pop off a wave and dont give input into the bar.

That's the problem with kiteloops...the risk of injuries is very high!

whent he noticed the kite was looping he pulled on his front hand that's how you get hurt. i don't think everyone has to learn kite loops but everyone needs a better plan than "this wasn't supposed to happen"

No! I never intend to loop the kite, send the kite up to jump with the back hand, once air born redirecting the kite back with the front hand. Simple on straight big air jumps and single rotations, but on those smaller kites in bigger winds sometimes Zam Bam when I do multiple rotations, Love the bigger kites, I just laugh and spin and never the f-16.

One other thing you might want to do is check your lines and make sure your kite is not pulling to one side. Most people do all or most tricks one way and this will lead to uneven steering lines. I check my lines regularly and even flip my bar around to keep them stretching evenly.
