@plummet: the washers are stainless with a zinc layer on top, so I guess no galvanic corrosion
Never heard of zinc coated stainless. But no you will still get galvanic corrosion. All it will take is 1 scratch. Use plastic washers to insulate..

I received the handle from Markus and it looks fantastic!!!
Perfect work!

The bike grip is IMO too thin, the edges are too hard for spinning and flipping and catching it afterwards.

I put two tennis over grips on it, but still too hard, so I wrapped a tennis under grip, two over grips, and found it still too hard.
I took an old bike tube and added that over it all, plus another over grip...now it is a kick ass handle.
Today we are having wind, and I will test it, will do a picture.

Very nice!

Well, you are going to be in LOve with the new 8mm handles with rounded edges :-)

I hope the foam will be enough with the thick and rounded edges, because I would prefer a smooth surface of foam instead of a messy taped one :-)

Toby: What about the size? Would it be good to have 1cm less width or height?

Is there a reason why you use isolation tape on the side walls? (slippery?)

That tape makes it less slippery.

Would be interesting to test 1 cm less high and wide.
It might be better to have more control during the t-handle moves.

@Buell: I hope it arrives soon! I made an insurance for it and have a trackingnumber

@ Toby: I am almost there with the new prototype that is 1 cm less wide and high

Interesting approach: I now have all the glue in the world and I even got my hand on twice as thick and dense foam rolls from XLC.
A bike pro told me that he mounts this grips on motorbikes with hairspray - seems to glue it 100%

Question: Do you think the hairspray approach could work with the kite Handle? Inside the foam is waterproof as it has a waterproof skin layer. So only water that comes in would be from below/sides.

Anyhow I am still testing with needles, different glues, foams and tapes. I assume that superglue, with thick and dense foam, covered with one layer of boat grip tape could be close to perfect.

I personally think with the new rounded edges the new dense foam will be enough, and its also not gonna be to slippery.

Anyhow, you will be able to test 2 more handles very soon, I already have the box, the custom forms and soon wil have the handles ready.

Ok, here is what I experienced yesterday:

- Superglue is a NOgo - it dissolves the EPDM foam in the early stage of glueing (gets hot, then doesnt glue, only after some time has a glueing effect)
- The injection with needles only works well with glues that dont glue instant (I several times glued parts of the foam or alu to the needle)
- Marine griptape is useless on a handle, as it is not stretchable (maybe it could be applied to the board between the handle, or on the under side of the board where the grabrail is (like Tom Herbert), I think standard grip tapoe is better, my favourite is microfiber (tennis, thin, no slipping)

@ Toby: I now did one handle (Thick EPDM Foam glued with superglue and rubbergriptape/microfiber on top of it) I guess its a bit advanced of what you have, but very similar, Im sure you will love it (see picture), maybe you need to glue the top cover a bit with super glue, I also put mounting screws, washers, spare microfiber and glue in the box (after I saw what the heck you did to my last handle ;-) , so lots of testing opportunities

I am now working on what I think could be the final product (I am not really happy with top layer grip tapes, due to optic, wearage and tactile issues).

It is a 1cm less wide and 1cm less high, 8mm alloy T-Handle with super rounded edges and extra thick EPDM foam, glued in a wood mold (see picture) with epoxy (JD weld).
Should be perfect, no slipping, not to hard, very precise and optically perfect, no issues with wearage either.

As soon as the second handle is done, I put both in a box and send them on to you, I really hope that we are now close to the ready product :-), well as you can see on the picture I will send you lots of material to test and play - do you also want some marine grip tape (black, 5cm wide, selfsticking)?
