Old school board characteritics

Postby violinistapazzo » Sun Oct 13, 2013 10:15 am

Hi, looking for some suggestion about old school/airstyle board characteristics...
Are indicated the freeride or X-over boards? or what? Not the new school/wake, right?
examples of North, Nobile, Shinn?
thank you
nic

Any board that is not too long and wide.
It needs a good grip when edging hard, since you will have a bigger kite with more power.
And to control the power you have to edge hard.

Make sure fins are not sharp...and if, sand them down.

You need straps which you can make big, for easy out and in.

Since I barely test gear I cannot recommend any boards.

I just bought a new 2013 shinn monk for airstyle and freeride. I've been riding the monk for 1 year already and it does lock an edge very well. Great straps as well for 2013 and 2014, they can be very large and comfortable. Also has quite a large handle with the board. Great board for more than airstyle, it also turns great and plays in surf nicely.
