You need:
- Standard alloy stripes (ideally with already slightly rounded edges) , 3cm wide, 5 mm high and 50 cm long, 3-5 Euros
- Bike Grip (I recommend BBB here: http://www.amazon.de/BBB-Moosgummi-grif ... +moosgummi ) 6 Euros
- maybe Superglue and an injection needle / or JB Weld epoxy, 3-10 Euros
- Tinshop/Tinner (20 Euros)
Step 1:
Go to a welding shop or tinsmith and make him have the alloy stripe bent into shape as shown on FrederikS drawing (holes are size M6) (they have machines for doing it, takes only a few minutes)
Step 2: Round the edges and drill the holes, polish it (maybe let the tinner do it - easier)
Step 3: Cut the Multifoam Bike Grip into the right length and slowly milimeter by milimeter push and pull (compress, pull, compress, pull..) it onto the alloy, it exactly fits the width/height
Step 4: Maybe you want to stop the grip from rotating (it only rotates very little anyhow) then use the superglue or epoxy inside to fix it (Superglue: inject it with a injector with smallest needle possible, epoxy you can only glue the sidewalls, which you will have to compress to the alloy for 12h
Step 5: Fix the screws (maybe use a washer), most of the time you can use the screws from your old handle (usually they are 6mmm high)
Done! You now have the most fantastic Airstyle T-handle in the world
Hint: take a ruler and measure the highest point of your instep on top of your foot, add 1cm to it - that should be the individual hight for your handle ( 3mm for the grip, 7mm on top), depending on your taste
For me this makes it very easy to get in , lock, get out. Also easy for locking with second foot and super easy to catch the board there.
Some of you might want a grip plate under the T- Handle - I didnt find that necessary.
Some might be better off with tennis grip and on top waterproof grip around the handle - for me the foam does a perfect job - soft like footstraps, because of only 3mm still very precise
