As others have said. hyrdrofoil. Or left field idea. Landboard or kitebuggy.
A lot can be done lightwind and on door twintip. My scale shows three digits in kgs and I use 15 Sonic first time on a demo, I had 15m Speed4 before.

The original question was about low wind tricks, he has spleene door and wants to know the companion for the board. I'd say 15m kite is enough on Speed4 or Sonic-FR. You do not gain much/anything with 21m or 18m. The 15m foil is the sweetest size in many opinions.

Thank you for lot of response..

After reading all of it,
I can rephrase my question.
Does anyone practicing airstyle ( at least some elements) in 7-9 knots and if yes, what kite/board combination is in use?

My two cents: the Flysurfer 21 Lotus remains the most powerful kite on the market but especially with the line extensions (6 mt.) It is way slower than the Sonic FR 18. Moreover the Sonic has a better lift and hang time. Don’t forget that this is a race machine, upwind and downwind is a real beast!

But the very high AR can make the relaunch very difficult especially in marginal conditions. Nevertheless, after I tried the Sonic FR 18 I sold my 21 Lotus. Till now I had 8 sessions with It and I am very, very happy.

In the meantime I realized that the low end of the 21 Lotus (with line extensions) differs from the Sonic FR 18 (without line extensions) in about one knot.

Airstyle with the Sonic 18 under 10 Knots and a Door L? Yeeeeees….. but pretty basic. Check the pics below.

PS: my weight is 76 Kilos :jump: .
Cheers
Carlo

I love those shots too. Particularly the ones jumping off wave lips.

But I gotta say. That water condition looks more like 13ish knots than sub 10. There's lots of white caps lurking........

Hi. As I said the Speed 4 21 Lotus has a better low end (about 1 Knot) and obviously more static grunt. Nevertheless the Sonic FR 18 has a wider flight window and It can pull hard at the edges of It, also the bar feeling is slightly different with less pressure.

Thanks Plummet. When I started the session (Rena Majore-Sardinia) the wind was blowing straight onshore at 8/10 Knots. Little withe caps are normal in onshore winds even in marginal conditions. With 13 Knots I would have used my LEI wave kite with a specific kite wave board.

Besides that I think that during the session some gusts were above 10 Knots. When I was on the beach, packing the Sonic, a french kiter told me that I had an "impossible kite session" :D .

Overall I love my Sonic FR 18 and I recently added to my quiver the 11 and the 15.

Cheers
