FlySurfer Airstyle Bar With MicroLoop

Postby danz » Thu Mar 30, 2017 9:34 am

I just dropped them an email on this issue, and they replied to me this morning:

Hello David,

we are still working on a safe solution.

The main issue is, that its highly dangerous for beginners and in a lot of countries world wide not legal by law.

We are thinking about an upgruade kit for the bars. I keep you posted.
Viele Grüße / Best regards
Christoph Hesina

So I think it's only to wait some time, but the upgrade will come :)

I hear this since minimum 5 years!

We all know it's not save for beginners...therefore it should be an add on like North did it.

It's so simple for a brand like FS to do it. They just need to do it !

I would say it is so simple to DIY as well.

For FS bar, one would only need a simple piece of ie aluminium (plastic?) shaped as a hook under the quick release depower lines. This can be added in no time with removing the lines. If you think about that, the plastic might actually slide over the 'oval' stainless steel QR end, and with a few holes, the lines can go through.

Than, because the FS bar has automatic untwisting of depower lines, the hook would be in exactly the same place after you untwist. Every time, all the time.

On the bar itself, a loop is needed as discussed before.

Damn, I'll build this :) Wish for a free time tho....

Guys if u want a microloop just create one yourself. I would think its pretty easy to do. If i remember there was a type of bar like this way back in the day when kiting was getting started.I dont think there is a wide demand for this now and offcourse the potential accidental risk is not worth it for any manufacturer as now u would have to release the chicken loop and somehow detach from the microloop also. its bad enough most people dont activate their chicken loop when danger strikes but just hold on for dare life instead or stare blankly while the kite drags them around. lol

No problem, like North has the Microhook above the QR and it all opens in one go.

A beginner wouldn't ride it, an experienced rider would need it and has to beware of potential risk.

I am riding it since many years. Full power. Though I read many fatalities about death looping kites.

Want to talk about danger?

It is not a microloop where the problem is. It is a microloop hook. The hook is custom made for almost any bar, to be able to release properly.
