Spreader Bar Hook Condom?

So, I bought me one of them photon torpedo (luggage boxes) for my roof. Got a new baby and now the kite gear moves up top I suppose to leave room for strollers, pack and plays, and car seats. Oy. It is just the beginning, I know...

Anyway, I am told that it is inevitable that I'll be reaching up on the roof for some last minute item prior to a session, forget I have on my harness, and scratch the piss outta my vehicle. DOH!

I was thinking if I stuck a big piece of foam on the end of that thing between sessions I would avoid paint damage. (which has already occurred, actually, and I don't even have the carrier yet!)

Will this look stupid? Sure! But I can't ignore the fact that the box is on the roof, and I'll forget something, and I'll be in a rush.

Any ideas what I can use? Thanks!

slide on of those foam beer can coozies over the hook. if anyone starts to ask or look at you funny you can whip it off and slide your beer in it!

Try a blow-up doll. They have multiple orifices that should fit just fine. You can also use it as a raft when you want to play at the beach with your kid.

Let your tyres down every time you park up at the beach.
Empty your box without having to stretch.

When your ready to head home, pump your tyres back up with your kite pump.

That would work well and I'd get less questions. (It would be obvious to everyone that I'm just a kiting perv, and they'd leave me alone.)
