I would skip the 2009 model if I were you. If you use the search function, you will find threads where the Rebel 2009 is discussed and you will get an idea for why you may wish to avoid that year's model.

Go for the 2010 model instead.

If you are trying to save money, then just wait until the 2011 is released and buy a discounted 2010 at that point.

I recently upgraded from 2008 to 2010 (12m) and I was very impressed in the increase in bottom end and turning speed .The 2010 does jump a lot better and hang time is longer. Not too sure if the top end is the same though, but I do like to ride a smaller kite once the wind gets up. So I would try to hang out for a discounted 2010 if I was you.
I would like to get some feedback on the 2010 9m and 8m kites as I’m not sure what to get when upgrading my 2008 9m kite. I kite mainly in choppy inner harbor conditions and what to know what the hang time is like on the 8m kite, and what the top end on the 9m is like compared to the 2008 9m.I really like jumping and what small kite with good top end and hang time as I'm not good or brave enough to be looping kites in high winds to get a soft landing.

I have a 2009 Rebel 12m and I LURVE it. My other kite is a 2007 Rebel 7m. Zero problems and it flies beautifully. The power scale is shifted up meaning that a 2009 has the power of a 1 size larger 2007. 2009 has a bit less depower than 2007 but you are also using 1 size smaller, meaning you are not worse off overall.

p.s. someone throw a 2009 6m rebel my way... all you guys who can't stand them... I'll pay you $ 100!! No 200!

ppss You do have th pump the beejezuz out of the sucker. Heck even my 2007 was collapsing/origaming when pumped to 6psi. I pump it to bengamazjezuz psi and problem solved.

2009 is a better flier than 2008. I have owned both. If you pump it up hard like you should pump up any kite you will not have an issue with it. I really comes down to how much you want to spend.

Nooooo! Please dear friend do not skip!!!! 2008 rebel is wonderful!!!!
I have rebel 2008 from november 2007.
They are very good. If you want to change try 2010 and only after decide if to skip.
2009 is not so good.
I have rebel 11 2010 but I have gone back to my wonderful 10 2008 again!!!!!
I heard that rebel 2011 wil be better.

My opinion... (and i have 2007, 2008,2009 Rebels)...

Give the 2009 a miss. Why? leaky valves and a nightmare to fix due to the one pump system. I have had to fix all four struts on my 2009 7m. My 2008 models are still flying well as is my 2007 Rebel.

Just my experience and opinion
