Anyone been kiting in Karpathos Greece before? I'm looking at going the start of September for a week but I couldn't find any info on kite spots is this Island only for windsurfing?

Cheers for that Toby but there is very little detail on kitebeachs about this Island I was hoping to get so feed back from a local or even someone thats been before.

I 've never been there, but from what I hear is that the conditions there is too strong to kite...
The meltemi gets it's biggest boost there... If you know anything from windsurfing imagine they use 3,3m sails...There are spots that have 8 bfts gusts...

that maybe explains why thee is so little info...not many go for kiting there...
I hear more about Paros, Rhodos etc

..have not been there to, but I am considering to go there.
I have heard that the west coast has about 2 bft less than the strong east coast spots.
problem is, that there are also no infos about the west spots for kiteboarding. beach access, waves, space for launch...

I emailed the Club Mistral on Karpathos they said that kitesurfing is generally forbidden
on the island.
Its a shame the wind stats look amazing

can you ask them why is that (even though I can understand the reasons why) and if this is official.??

i would be intersted in that to.
i would understand the ban for devils bay an co. because they seem to be packed with windsurfers. but from my knowledge there should be nice moderate empty wave spots at the West coast.

Its frickin gusty there, even the windsurfers look like kickboxers fighting with the wind... and yes, its one of the windiest spots around...
