Hey everyone,
Anyone got any good ideas on props as far as control bar simulators, or teaching props to use to help better teach students?
thanks!

Why there is no Wii Kiting game is beyond me. The Wii-mote is perfect for a bar emulator.
The most success we've had teaching here is as follows:
1st morning: 2meter 2line kite
1st Afternoon: 5m 4-line
2nd day: 9m 4-line
I'm building a three meter four line currently and hope it will act as a good transition. This always seems to be the missing link for students. I know that when I was learning there was a huge breakthrough when I realized that you have to sheet in to steer, and sheet out to make the kite climb.
I had been flying a two line like a ninja for a month straight every day before I got a chance to touch a four line kite. I couldn't believe how much I struggled at first.
The truth is though, that I didn't take lessons, I had a roommate that taught me to fly. If I'd taken lessons I'm sure I would have gotten that info earlier.
Once I got that, it was on.

I think contacts on the top of the chicken loop and bottom of the bar that are attached to a small battery to deliver an electric shock when the bar touches the chicken loop
I think there are a few simulator ideas on you tube.

Our best simulator is the Ozone Flow trainer Kites
with a Reel Loop to hook in with and it also has a safety
release to practice releasing as well...
Nothing like the Real Thing! Safest way to start and get a great feel...

We built this:
Is working out rather good for teaching water starts, switch riding and transitions - and uses days where there isn't enough wind to otherwise teach.
Cheers

simulators may work sometimes...but at the end of the day, its all about the student getting as much flying time as possible in a variety of conditions...
