Never been soo disappointed . Bought boots and a 2010 Cabrihna Custom 144cm after a weekend in PEI watching some guys rocking it in boots. Got some advice on board size, but .... it ain't working out. I just can't seem to get the pop for doing big clean raileys with this board. I like the Custom for other things like ...kiteloops and powered landings. Have to wonder if the 136cm would have been the better choice. BTW, I'm 185lbs.
I also have a 135cm Airush Protoy which I have no problem doing raileys. But, you can't put boots on that board.
So, will practice and better technique overcome the larger board size? Or, should I just buy a 136cm?
Gavin,
The 144 custom is 100% okay for a guy your size. Dre (150-160lbs), Damien Leroy (150-160lbs), and myself (160lbs) use the 140 with no problem.
If you are having problems with pop it is probably just because you need to adjust.
A bigger board will INCREASE your pop once you get used to it.
If you downsize don't go to the 136, that is too small. You could do the 140 but I would stick it out on the 144.
Good luck!!
