Use a strong lifting program to identify weak points then remediate. Don't be too proud to see a massage therapist, Ortho, PT, etc. I have a knee and shoulder injury that give me problems but I have a weight program in the gym that keeps me in shape and helps me work out the little kinks so I don't tweak something kiting.
No guarantees in this sport, but being good at any discipline is 99% time on the water, 1% everything else.

I started kiting when I was 30 and riding cable when I was 31. Since then I have had both shoulders scoped my knees give me trouble from time to time as well as my lower back. I spent my 20's in the gym lifting heavy weights. I'm 37 now and I predominantly ride wake-style. I can not do all the tricks the younger guys do nor can cheat like most kiters do to land the ones I can do i.e. arms fully extended behind my back forcing a pass (my arms no longer can go back that far lol).
It's the same for me at the cable park there are just some things I can't do like 7's off the kicker. Every time I start getting close to them my back and knees start hurting from going so big off the kicker.
For me personally it's all about progression. When I can not progress anymore then I'll do something else or mow the lawn on a foil.

Nice videos and sbend on the cable... I'm jealous. I started wakeboarding in '91. Was Always in the gym to build strength for riding. Could do several inverted tricks backrolls (heel and toeside) rollreverts, tantrums, scarecrow, 360s 540s. Could not get the raley (lot of hard falls). Boat had a medium wake - in '96 we bought the joystick to mount as a tower on our 1974 merc.
Now I can't do many tricks, only handlepass 360s and backrolls behind a boat. Recently broke my leg on an unhooked backroll kiting. Over 40 and feeling old now. Not sure if I'll be trying any more wakestyle. Sucks, really wanted to progress and stick a few more wakestyle tricks on the kite. Now I'll probably just mow the lawn on a surfboard.

transition jump - keep the kite more above you - dont swing in back in the other direction so much - well that is usually what people to wrong anyway - store up that potential energy for going in the other direction.
Some low impact starting blocks of wakestyle by a far older ; however, currently broken rider (was actually strapless that broke me):

Youth helps, but it's not the only ingridient needed. It also takes being in good shape, having good to very good coordination and willingness to take some risks (balls).
You can work on your shape, but I believe balls and coordination come in the gens.
How many 20 year olds are so out of shape that can't even move out of the couch?
How many people don't dare to take any risk in any kind of activity?
And so on...

He's three years older now. Wonder if he took up wakestyle.
