IKO INSTRUCTOR TRAINING COURSE KENYA

An International Kiteboading Association Instructor Training Course is being held at Nyali Beach giving the opportunity for 8 people to qualify as a Kiteboarding Instructor, and be able to teach all over the world. It is a perfect GAP year option or fresh start for a new career. We will also advise you how to use the IKO website afterwards and how to search for job placements.

When? Starting on the 28th September 2009 for 5 full days.

Where? At the Prosurf Extreme Centre at Nyali Beach Hotel

Course Content and certification:

The training program corresponds precisely to kiteboarding teaching methods. The certification is recognized as the international standard in teaching.

At the end of the training, you will have developed abilities in the following major areas: safety, practical environment, analysis, technique, teaching psychology and live situation.

After attending an ITC, you will be qualified as IKO Instructor level 1 and will be able to continue your pro training.

Also included in the course:

    Kite Service for the duration of the Course

    Snorkelling session to the Coral reef gardens

    Sundowner cocktail overlooking the spectacular Mombasa Tudor Creek

    Prosurf Extreme T Shirt

Course Cost: GBP 875 (Kes 112,000 or Euro 1000)

    Be at least 18 years old
    Kiteboarding for at least 1 year and be a certified IKO kiteboarder level 3 minimum
    Have an IKO Assistant Instructor certification (Water only) or provide an attestation (letter of recommendation) of a teaching experience in a water or aerial sport
    Have a valid first aid certificate or complete it before the ITC with the IKO Examiner running the course
    Complete the IKO powerboat certification course or have outside powerboat certification

If you don't have the First Aid requirements yet as below, we are running an EFR Emergency First Responder on the day before the course starts on the 27th September 2009 for an Additional payment of 120 Euros.

PROSURF EXTREME QUALIFIES 5 KENYA CITIZENS AS KITESURF INSTRUCTORS!

Tsuma (IKO Level 1 Instructor), Bram (IKO Level 2 Head-Instructor), Swaleh (IKO Level 1 Instructor), Robbie (IKO Examiner), Ollie (IKO Level 1 Instructor), Rik (IKO Level 1 Instructor), Max (IKO Level 1 Instructor).

On the week of 28th September 2009 Prosurf Extreme kite surfing school at Nyali beach Mombasa, organised an International Kiteboarding Organisation (IKO) Instructor Training Course (ITC).

The IKO Examiner examined 5 Kenyan citizens in this particular ITC. They all passed the training successfully. Congratulations to Rik Van Rampelberg, Tsuma Ndune, Max Melesi, Swaleh Ali Juma and Oliver Nicklin two of whom were staff at Prosurf Extreme sponsored by the Company as part of the ongoing Training programme for Kenyans.

All the participants were also trained as Emergency First Responders. After the training the IKO Examiner said "the candidates worked and studied very hard” and about Kenya he added," Most of the coast line here is perfect for kitesurfing, and I can't wait to come back and explore further in this amazing country".

This was the first ITC at Prosurf Extreme and the next Instructor Training Course will be held in June 2010.
