Strutless kites

Postby clydesdale » Wed Jul 17, 2013 9:51 pm

Any of you supersizers try a big strutless kites?

Greg from boardriding Maui responded to my inquiry of worry about my weight deforming his 17m cloud kite saying hasn't really been an issue within windrange for bigger riders and testimonials on his site are very positive.

Really curious about that 17m cloud kite

i'll wait till the zero appears near me to try it out. i'm not going to make a purchase based on strutless sheep-weight lovers posts here.

i'm concerned about bar setup high maintenance and tricky water relaunch (e.g. this austrian lake water relaunch video). and of course not related to riders weight heavy fluttering issue.
as i recall a lot of people here posted something like "only an idiot leaves kite on the beach fluttering in the wind" on the "crappy sail cloth quality" threads.
but since strutless are suddenly cool nowadays then flutter is tolerable too?

well i don't need a expensive kite only for one season. and since my 17m with 5 struts race kite is only 0,5kg heavier i have a lot of time to wait until this strut battle is over. at least my kite is durable enough to last several seasons without stretching and wearing out the sail cloth...

...almost forgot, i'm 106kg...
