Wood is naturally buoyant, it helps lift the board off the water, resulting in higher light wind performance.

A bit confused too ?
You have a wood foil front and tailwing in the start - yellow board with black pad and straps.
And the riding is showing a white strapless board ?
But like the idea

I made both the front and rear fins, the front works better than the rear fin. I am going to try titanium on the rear soon. Just not much wind lately.

Looks nice! Did you cover the wood with some fiberglass, or are you only relying on the wood for strength?
I suppose you did not get too much vibrations, since the wood does not tend to vibrate too much? How was your top speed and "glide"/drag compared to the carafino?

The low AR wings Above worked fine without fiberglass.
The high AR wing below was bending too much, I am putting on fiberglass.
