Try some 1/8" 7075-T6 aluminum. Should work well and cost less than Ti.

I have spent the past 4 days trying to locate my sunken titanium twin tip hydrofoil.
I tried to put Gopro3 in the water and view it from IPhone on shore, but as soon as camera goes in the water, Wifi is lost.
Perhaps Bille can offer some pointers on underwater search.

I tried some aluminum sheets before, but they are easily corroded by the salt water, I tried aluminum and galvanized primer, but they don't stick too well.

The gopro seems like a good idea. If you had it on a rope with a weight at the bottom which is used to set the height of the gopro from the bottom and the gopro had a 'tail' attached so it pointed the way you were paddling or finning, then if you used a grid pattern and knew where the grid was, if the foil appears, from the time you should be able to identify where it was along which line of the grid.

Are you getting good bondage with epoxy and the bamboo flooring?
My epoxy doesent semm to stick very well on the bamboo wook.
maybe its Wood resin? or not rough enough?
what are you yousing to glue the keel?

what's the water depth and visibility where you lost the foil?
how big of an area do you need to search?
what type of bottom?

-scuba tank and a long piece of string anchored to the center of your search area
or
-bucket with plexi-glas bottom tied to a SUP if the water is clear enough
or
-100ft seine (net) to drag the bottom
or
-mask and snorkle w/ length of cord


at least its not going anywhere until you find it

GoPro3 has an App that one can use iPhone to preview from the camera with WiFi, when I put camera in the water, the wifi signal is lost. Since there is ocean current, the fins have been moved from where I lost it.

I use Devcon 2500 PSI epoxy $2 an ounce. It works well but not UV stable, so need to go where the sun doesn't shine or cover with another uv protection.
The bamboo is coated on top and bottom, you need to sand the coated area. I only glue on the groove to make a wider plank.
For the strut to the fuselage and board, I use both screws and epoxy.

The water depth is about 10 feet, I know where I lost it, but that day water was cloudy, visibility was 5 feet. Now the water cleared, but the fins are gone probably from the ocean current. Now I have probably a one mile radius to search, I am resorting to search while kiting on low tides. I am also offering rewards, hopefully someone will help me find it. It took me a long time to cut and drill those titanium.

you need a metal detector, or a lot of deterrmination, or time...
I once lost a stainless spreader bar for several years on a sandbar in front of my spot, eventually it poked one end out of the sand....
When the water cleared, the sand probably settled out of it hiding your foil. I bet it is within 50 feet of where you lost it, 10 feet of where it hit bottom. Good luck!
