The cord on the koa wood struts are100mm, thickness between 22mm to 24mm. They are stiffer than the MHL, the 22mm is not quite as stiff as Carafino. The 24mm is stronger than both. They are only sealed for water. I hate fiberglass.
Rush Randle, MHL and Carafino all have 20mm thickness. And I wonder why.

Excellent.
Thanks.
Just to be clear. The 24mm strut is stronger or stiffer or both?

Nice find. Thanks!
If I was going to use it I would expect to have to fill it with fibreglass though. There are figures for strength and stiffness of production struts which would allow comparison of the bare extrusion.
I don't know what the skin thickness is but they said the diagrams were true size, so you should be able to measure it.

Finally , i "Get it" !!
I won't be breaking any speed-limits on water , while i'm learning
to NOT do face-plants with a hydrofoil.
So the speed-penalty of the thicker wood strut Vs the carbon one ;
won't bother , me one little bit !!

It is plexiglass that I have laying around in the house, size 1/4"x3"x14"
May be they should call it flexinglass. It is harder to ride due to its flex, but wouldn't it be cool if the strut is made out of invisible material, and it will look like you are flying on a magic carpet.

That would be cool... maybe if you glassed lexan it would be stiff enough?
