C A R A F I N O called it a Shaft ; but the topic starter called it a Keel.
It is Definitely NOT a Keel ; the Keel of a boat runs lengthwise down
the hull, and is usually the lowest part in the hull, and runs Horizontal, or
parallel to the water surface.

That is also how the french cousins on the Kitefoil Forum have been naming all these parts for more than 5 years now:
T-bar = mast + fuselage
Wing or front wing
Stabilizer / Stab / sometimes "rear wing" or "stabilo"

Hmm...what about dagger ? Makes more sence than mast/keel imho.
And like Peter Frank, I dont like the name "riser", and "strut" as it is impossible to translate to most other langauges.Some not into kitesurfing, would understand dagger immediately (also in other languages) and used in windsurfing as well.

mast
fuselage
front wing
rear wing

You guys can't just make up new names for parts just because you are using a foil with a kite, these things have been around for decades...

It's not about making up new names. It is the "mast, keel, strut" that has too many names...

And as "Strut" hasnt been used by any of the new manufactures (and will certainly not be used here, because it seems so wrong), but "Mast" and "Keel" are the commonly used ones, I think it is appropriate that we discuss how we think it could be named.
The problem with "Mast" is of course if we talk about windsurf hydrofoils, where it is confusing.
But for a kitehydrofoil, Mast is very specific and can not be confused in any way.
So the only reason "Keel" could be better, was to make it more general for windsurf hydrofoiling also.

Well, Just found out that they do also call it "dagger" or daggerboards in the AC world. And it does makes much more sense than all other names...
