Another great French high-tech foil on a beautiful French island:

I noticed the mast has a Z shape and threw a little more water in the air than usual.
What is the logic behind using the Z mast as opposed to a straight vertical mast?

I believe it's done so surface air won't travel down the Strut
and make more drag ? It will be Fun to see if i'm even close to correct !

You might be right, that it throws off more spray than other foils.

But I am not sure, as spray is highly dependant on the course you go, and the water surface.

So if you go upwind - and most sequences in this video are upwind - which is easy to see as the keel is angled (tilted), which ONLY happens going some, or full upwind.

Also, water surface makes a huge difference, so if you dont go deep downwind, chop WILL give you more spray.

My point is, that you could be right, that it throws more spray than usual, but you could also be wrong, and it cuts clean as in hot butter, when going at lower angles

I have seen lots of kitecam sequences when I am out learning (in order to see what is happening, and whether the foil angle is correct and everything) - this is why I know how different the spray is, according to your course and water surface.

So I would not pay that much attention to it, necessarily :thumb:

I'm not bothered by a little bit of extra spray.

I am thinking of some kind of standardisation developing for the foil mast.
Will it be deep Tuttle or a plate?
Will it be solid carbon and vertical?
Will all the mounting surfaces for the wings be flat?

So I'm interested in what is the best mast - vertical? Z-shaped? angled forward? angled back?
