Foil Tuttle box dimensions

Postby Edge19 » Mon Jun 09, 2014 10:12 pm

Hi,
I am building my own Carbon foil and have been trying to decide what method of attatchment i should use.
Both have there merits but i feel the Tuttle method would be easiest. So as Tuttle usage has been more favored recently, i was wondering if there is a standard size coming through. I have standard Tut boxes from my old race board that i can use, or even make some new boxes. Only i dont think they will be strong enough! so are your tuttles standard,Deep or custom sizes.

Thanks for your input

Cheers

I use the spots or alpine box, has one screw in the middle. The standard size tuttle is very similar in size but has two screws. Whats most important is that your thickness of tail will accept dept of the box. Remove all foam and stringer and place box right on laminate but, before add five to six layers of fiber on the laminate for added straightness for the top washer and screw. The cut out should be bigger by several inches on the sides and be straighten with stronger foam and fiber.

Ok thanks jplmain, yes I think I might go down this route. Even if I have a board not thick enough I have an idea to get around it.

Many thanks
