Good luck Maxime.

I guess it was hard to stay a North team rider when North does't have a foil race kite or a competitive foil board.. unfortunately.

i wonder what drives the brand to hire the foil board rider?
do they really think that foil is attractive enough to the general public to bother?

i think they live in their own special universe...

Coming to a beach near you... my prediction is you will see an invasion of foilers this coming season and then this fall the buy and sell will be over run with them......

Maxime is Foil World Champion in the "Under 21 Class" :D
He is also double Formula Kite World Champion (Open & Under 21)
Not a bad year for him :cool2:

Strange?
Nico P was born 23/07/95
Something does not add up?
And where is the "under 21 class" mentioned anywhere?
I looked quickly but could not find it?
Taking absolutely nothing away form Max!

Ha, judging by the way everything else is going shouldn't there really be an "over 21" class. :D

+1
I assume only 2-3% of all kiteboaders can do a tack (and a jibe) on a directional, not to mention on a raceboard. Comparing to the raceboard, tacking and jibeing a foil is way harder.
What all the buyers of foilboards do with the super pricey gadgets? Going forth then swimming a bit and then going back? Ok, sometimes turn around and go even more downwind in switch-stance?

Going back to topic I think there are more brands with high performance gear than highly performing foilboarders (Johny, Maxime, Nico).

I think tacking a foil board is either the same or easier than a race board. At least it is for me. They are much more maneuverable. I always touch down in the tacks, but I make far more on a foil board than I ever did on my race board. Surface gybes are similar, foiling gybes are impossible and the ones you've seen in videos are all fakes.

But back on topic, I have so many questions.
What hydrofoil will he ride? Still a Sword 2? We saw some not very good photo's of the F-One foil but would they really try and make a race model and get it right first go? The Sword board was supposed to be designed for Maxime but I assume F-One will make a similar model. (p.s. is there anyone left as a sponsored rider for Sword?)
Foil kites. What sizes? When are they out? F-One started with foils, but can they catch back up?
Interesting times.
