Hi Gunnar,
Great video, as usual! I have been wondering which board are you riding in your freeride video. Can you compare this board to a Ketos 118, if you have tried it?
Thank you,
Jaros
Hi Jaros,

I have ridden one. Besides the fact that the Ketos can only take KF box foils, it is also 2cm less wide at the widest point and quite a but narrower at the tail. It is not as comfortable when touched down.

The Ketos is also 300 Euros more expensive

The Groove looks great, loads of scoop (nosekick) which is simply awesome :thumb:

But it should not be compared with the Ketos 118, as the last one is a somewhat smaller board, that many prefer for waves and stuff, some even the 107, but I dont like such short ones...

The comparison should be to the Ketos 130 which is a very similar board regarding size

The reason why the tail is tapered a bit, is to avoid it to catch the water in tight carves, as here the rear end of the board is closer to the water than the nose - and if not for light wind, you dont need area at the rear.
But for lower winds, area is really helpful indeed - so ups and downs no matter what :naughty:

I just wish I was local to that stretch of water you keep to yourself, it must make such a difference to your confidence on the water, even the wind looks steady according to the wind pattern accross the surface,
I did hear it's a secret spot,
I am still amazed at seeing you use them mega short lines, slack lines must hardly ever happen. :thumb:

Hi Gunnar

would you suggest me a groove skate as a first board? I will buy my first foil next week (moses fluente easy) the shop proposes me a moses T60 but they have available also the groove skate that I like more ( I don't have may space in my car so I prefer a short board, and I prefer strapless riding). I have already a good skils on kitesurf in particular with directional board.

Best regards

Fabrizio

Hey Gunnar, nice video. Do you know volume of board? I am looking for a board for strapless foiling that is easy to put on its side.

Sorry. I am not sure about that. If I would have to guess, I would say its about 15L.

Hi Fabrizio,

How heavy are you? if you are average weight and have a easy foil with good lift, then you should be ok on the Groove.

Have your learned to foil already? If not, maybe do a course first. After that that combo will be fine. Learning be yourself on the 550 and 91cm Mast from zero, will be difficult.
