Hi all,

I made a custom made bar for my light wind foilkite on Hydrofoil; it is a bit like what Greg did on its Cloud's bar: it is not sliding but I have cut the harness hook and replaced the standard Chicken loop by a mini-hook (cabrinha leash recycling) connected on the spread bar through a little rope ending with a ring. To me it has the following advantages:
- generates less moment on the harness for toe-side riding on the hydrofoil (on that point feeling should be tending to a sliding bar with the "moment-less" hips movement it procures, maybe not as much but to be confirmed)
- keeps the precision of a fixed hook, not sliding
- keeps the CL at the same distance from the bar in toe-side (or on snowkiteing with skis), otherwise with a sliding hook, I am afraid that my short arms will not easily compensate for the CL sliding closer to the bar, hence requiring more sheeting-out.

Just one test this week-end, but it was ok and had the advantage of an increased sheeting-in stroke during water start for example.

This is our experience, the sliding range could be reduced compared to wave riding. How? Make two knots on the dyneema slider and try until you don't find the best range for you.
However, you should be able to control sliding without knots after you get used to sliding systems.

I use the Jay bar with the rope slider. It's awesome in the surf for opening up your hips for turns and riding toeside. The combination of an Antal low friction ring and a rope slider is incredibly smooth.
